My Bowl Season

The Bowl Season is upon us once again. The first three bowls have all been great, what with TCU and BYU winning by a collective 75-15, plus that 41-17 Troy-Rice game. Whoo boy, what a week we've had. I, unfortunately, am stuck in Des Moines, not going to a bowl game. I cancelled by plans for a trip to Italy when IU was one game from being bowl eliglible. My reasoning then was:

If IU makes anyone of these games, I'm going. Screw Italy. It'll be there next
year. IU may not make another bowl game in my lifetime. [Original Post]

Also, a bit more prophetically, I said:

Of course, being IU football, they could just as easily go 0-3 to finish the year 5-7 and not make any. They've already lost to UConn (3-5, 0-3 Big East) and I-AA Southern Illinois.

Well, guess what happened. IU lost out, falling to Minnesota (which was an absolute spanking. I almost drove the 4 hours to the Metrodome for it. Luckily, I was spared the agony of seeing it in person), Michigan (hardly a surprise), and Purdue (those fuckers). So, no Italy or bowl game. Instead, I get reconstructive shoulder surgery. Man, there's nothing like trading in a week overseas for crushed bowl game hopes and a torn labrum.
