So far, 5 matches in the knockout round (as of Germany-Italy) have gone into extra time. Two have finished in extra time and the other 3 have gone to shootout. It's the 3 that have ended in a shootout that bother me. Some, like in the case of Switzerland vs. Ukraine, don't end with the better team advancing. Some others are just a way to decide when neither team has given a deserving effort.

Today the World Cup's first games were played. Germany beat Costa Rica 4-2, and Ecuador beat Poland 2-0. I'm so excited for the Winter Olympics for 1 reason - curling. I got hooked watching the Salt Lake Olympics. As the opening ceremonies neared, I got more and more pumped.
